Will to live

I raise my white flag to mortality
Assenting to her persistent demands
I surrender to existence
A forced submission weighing down

My duel is complete
I lose to fate
And walk in valleys
These are hidden scrolls
Rolled up for working days
A morn of sunshine dawns
I smile to walk and play
It is ever changing seasons
That thrash over my years
I swim for shore– for sanity, stability
And see a horizon of seas
Where underneath a mental sickness
Beats upon the surface
And in peaks and waves disturbs my small and long existence
Hope has granted me reprieve
God’s sail upon the storm
But while others speak of land
I often only mourn
